Senior QA Engineer

Job Description

As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer you will be responsible for creating, implementing and automating testing across multiple components of route analytics tools.  The Senior QA Engineer will design, document and implement test plans for new projects, report and manage defects, regress software fixes for new and existing products, assist development with replicating and debugging problems and develop test automation solutions as needed.  The successful candidate will possess strong technical and programming/test automation skills, have experience testing enterprise-call system software packages and will have good familiarity IP technologies and LINUX systems.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Design, develop and implement comprehensive QA test plans and test cases, tools and infrastructure for assigned areas of the route analytics product lines.
  • Run regression tests and perform both  white and black box testing against releases of the Traffic, VPN and Route Explorer product lines.
  • Perform all aspects of verification, including functional, structural, regression, stress, stability and system testing.
  • Document, troubleshoot and isolate problems encountered during testing.
  • Design, develop and implement complex test automation both at the functional and system level.
  • Work with other members of the Packet Design QA team to improve our processes, tools, methods, effectiveness and efficiency.

Required Skills:

  • BS/MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or BS/MS in computer Science or related and professional work experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years cumulative experience of testing commercial software with 3 years experience in either automation and IP technologies.
  • A strong technical background coupled with in-depth experience testing under Linux/Unix.  Knowledge of testing Network Management systems is a plus.
  • Extensive background in QA methodologies and experience developing and executing comprehensive test suites for system software.
  • Possesses strong technical and programming/test automation skill as demonstrated by 3+ years development of complex automation infrastructure and test cases with industry standard products: Knowledge of Shell/Perl/Python/Tcl scripting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot software/hardware configuration problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle/organize multiple complex technical projects simultaneously and use bug tracking systems.
  • Experience with/knowledge of networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, ISIS) and a strong background in setting up complex routed networks (IP, OSI) in a LAB, using L3 routers and L2 switches
  • Ideal candidate will have strong analytical and trouble shooting skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communications skills
