Analyze MPLS VPNs

Layer 3 MPLS VPNs are deployed using two layers of Label Switched Paths. One set of LSPs interconnects Provider Edge (PE) routers, while another overlaid set of LSPs interconnects Virtual Routing & Forwarding (VRF) instances that manage the Customer Edge (CE) to PE routes. Extensions to the BGP community attribute are utilized to carry per-VPN routes, which are kept distinct by appending a per-VPN ip address extension. One of the challenges for Service Provider and other organizations deploying MPLS VPNs is monitoring the routing integrity of all the MPLS VPNs.

Packet Design's VPN Explorer delivers per MPLS VPN layer 3 and routing reachability and PE membership baselining, monitoring and analysis, as well as core network IGP/BGP route analysis and modeling. VPN Explorer helps Service Providers and large enterprises deploying their own MPLS VPN core network to effectively manage the complex, virtualized routing deployed to support MPLS VPN services to their customers.
